Sennen Cove (HDR)
James Argyle, Jun 2008
© James Argyke
Camera used: Nikon D50
This is an HDR processed shot of the cliffs at Sennen. I'm guessing the processing may polarize peoples opinion's, so feel free to make your thoughts known. Personally, I think it's moody without going over the top.

I really like the texture of the rock, reminiscent of Robert Venosa or Max Ernst.

Not bad at all, but why did you opt for the monochrome effect?
Surely with the rich colours of Sennen crag a full HDR redition would be best in full colour.

Thanks for the feedback!
I have played with a more saturated version of this rendering, but I don't think it was as punchy. To my eye, the high contrast detail brought out by the HDR process (mainly the rough texture of the rock) got lost. By comparison, this image reminds me very much of the drawings in the CC guide (hewn brooding faces in the granite cliffs).

great shot. could you have not done a colour adjustment in photoshop or the like to the colour HDR rendition?
