Didnt Arnis have a tragic ending ?
rayash - 10/May/09
Yeah, Arnis died in the Alps quite young, a brilliant climber.

Did this ascent involve aid at the slanting crack Al? I remember American Steve Wunch leading it free in in about 1970/1.
Sean Kelly - 04/Dec/09
Both myself and Arnis lead it free, we just assumed it WAS free. I could be a year out in the date though so Steve might still have done before us. Incidently I had followed Arnis up it a few days before so it wasn't an on-sight.

Arnis was born in 1957, which would make him 11 or 12 in 1969??
abseil - 01/Jul/12
Arnis was very young when I knew him, young teenage sounds about right, like I said Frank Cannings has Arnis' climbing diaries so maybe he could shed some light on the date.
