That really is a bolted crackline, innit?
Jamie B - 04/May/09
Yes. Originally a trad route, now bolted - as are quite a few of the routes in the quarry.

I've nothing against sport climbing in general, but this seems unneccessary. Wonder what the FA thought?

Don't know the history of the route but think it was still graded as a trad route in the last edition of NE Outcrops. There are still a few trad routes in the quarry, but it's primarily been developed now as a sport climbing venue (think this may have been where the first sport route in Scotland was put up?).

The route is graded for trad and sport type ascents.
If memory serves correctly, it sits around and E1/2 on trad. Not a very safe top to finish on though.

Its not nearly as good for gear as the picture implies hence why there used to be a massive peg just above the climbers top hand, pretty sure you wouldn't have got anything of any use in that part of the crack. Also pretty sure the lower section isn't a hand or finger crack as you can't layback it so unlikely to be much good gear although there may be a sneeky nut.

Hi, where it is?
I'm a forigner, so have no idea at all, please tell me the country, region and crag name. I'm interested in routes of this sort. Thanks, thanks a lot.
