Purgatroy first accent

Hi Jim
Sorry but your route Purgatroy E3 6A was done by Scott Saddler december last year as super snatch (see inside page of this months Climb)
He didn,t use the side runner like you on the right and just one piece for the top.

Hi Chalky.
I did this route originally from the left (Quake flake E3 6a) and then direct (Super snatch E5 6a). For QF I used side runners in Pink Edge. For SS I only used the top runner as I felt the gear behind the flake wouldn't take a fall and would probbably damage the rock. On both ascents gear was placed on the lead.
If purgatory was climbed from the right then this would be a variation on what I have already done.

Hi Scott glad you have been in touch. Great route isn't it. Your pic in climb was cool. We risked the gear in the flake but weren't confident about it. Really enjoyed it though.

Thanks and good effort.
Its cool that Troy is getting lots of attention as its an ace quarry. Me and my mate Duncan have put up a few new lines in there. We also submitted one which we later found somebody had done several months earlier. There's still quite a few lines to go if you know where to look. Take care clearing that loose rock though!!

Yeah if your ever going then drop me an email cos I'm only in haslingden.

You risked gear behind a flake you weren't confident in when there is a good possibility it would ruin the rock?
That's thoughtful of you.

Just don't fall off and everything is fine.
