JulesV - If you had taken the trouble to do a bit of research you'd know that indeed this is Gates of Perception at Anglezarke.
This is actually Dave knighton setting off from the belay ledge on the first ascent, and with Brian Cropper standing on the ledge totally unbelayed. I think somewhere in Brian's collection there's also a sequence of shots he took of Dave climbing the route.
In fact come to think of it Brian must have spent some time on that ledge because the 1982 Lancashire guidebook had a photo on the front cover of Paul Cropper making an early ascent of G-o-P as well.
I really can't understand why you don't think this is Anglezarke! Clear as day to me.

Has this photo been reversed? It looks like the climber is on the Golden Tower and GoP is the thin crack on the right.

Anglezarke it may be, that much is clear as day... But this must've been flipped in scanning it from a photo? Cos GoP is deffo the crack to the right (even though it is on the left of the tower in reality) and the climber is either setting off on Golden Tower or Fools Gold.
