Aig de la Republique and Charmoz N. Face from Charmoz NW ridge

2 weeks of rain in the valley. Some lads next door arrived, put up their tent. moved from it to the supermarket to the bar on a roughly daily basis and after 2 weeks packed up and went back to blighty. The pile of empty liter bottles next to my tent did nothing for the neighborhood. Not did the maggots that took up residence in my socks.

Just looked in my diary. I'd gone to Zermatt on 21 July 73 and sat in the tent for days and days in the rain. One sortie towards the Wellenkuppe then bailed and went to Cham. Managed the W Face of Pointe Albert on the M, then "... came down in heavy rain. Rain did not stop again so we went home." That was on 12 August. Ships that pass..........

Hi Jon - it's a small world in time and space! We did the M in July but as I recall things improved after that - you must have hit one of the many wet spots in August with precision!
