How many mats you got there?
do you think E5 still applies?

2 mats. Is your second question real or rhetorical?
For sure they soften it all a bit but I'd still give it the E5. I remember trying to psyche up for it a decade ago with a collection of rucksacks and ropes underneath that probably did about the same job. What made the difference this time was the beta in the new guide to stay on the right hand side whereas I previously thought you needed to switch. Anyway, you should go and do it and see what you think. It is an absolutely perfect grit arete and one of the best of it's type around. Just don't TR it first because then you really wouldn't experience the route properly.

No both Q's were real and thank you for answering them, it's always difficult to tell whether mats change the grade with shortish routes unless you ask someone who has climbed them.
