is it true that the lichen growth at helsby has got worse now that the oil refinery is not chucking out so many pollutants,thinking back to the sixties,while i am still capable of accurate recall, the crag didnt seem quite so luminecently green,and presumably less treacherous in those days.can anyone substantiate this observation?

I remember when Helsby used to be virtually red, it's going green was put down to pollutants from the oil refinery in the air. Strange that now we should be blaming the lack of them for it getting worse?
