Tukukino, Jun 2010
Camera used: Sony Ericsson mobile phone
There seems to be some very harsh photo grading going on, here. This is worth 5 any day of the week...

The thing that detracts from this photo, for me, is that there is a very prominent bright outline around the cantilever.

Sorry about that Monk, it was the best I could do with my mobile phone ;-)

I don't think that sort of thing is normally due to the phone, but due to post-processing in photoshop etc.

The only PP for these silhouette images was to change the black point. A 3.1mp camera phone with its small sensor cannot capture the true dynamic range of such a high contrast scene as this, the issue is exasperated by the PP to be sure, but the issue is with the original data collected. Had I used my EOS (I made the novice error of not checking the charge the night before and the battery was flat) the result would have been significantly different I believe.
That being said however, I like the accentuation the highlight gives to the rock; I could have removed it in PP but I feel it really gives some depth and form to an otherwise fairly flat image and certainly (as was a criticism in another image from this series) there is no mistaking the locale.
But each to their own; your opinion is noted.
