Milky Way, as seen above Aiguille du Bionassay. Photograph taken from the moraine of Tete Rousse.

Fantastic shot. You've got some really good, well worked shots up this week. That's a lot of light for a short exposure. Was it 2.8 with a high ISO? Must have been under a couple of minutes to avoid trails? Could you see the milky way with the naked eye? I've seen it but not this clear. great shot.

Thank you for very flattering comments. The photograph was taken with Nikon D3s with Nikkor 24-70 2.8 lens. I have taken it @ 24 mm with aperture set to f2.8. Exposure time 20 s. with ISO6400. The signal to noise on D3s is stunning. I need to mention I didn't have a tripod, so I simply aligned the camera with some rocks and fired with 10s self-release.

I really am lost for words. Brilliant image. The short shutter speed & high ISO has kept the stars reasonably sharp without the usual star trails. Photography has certainly moved on from the 400ASA of HP4 & push processing! Well done.
