Looking like "Forty Nine" is a big ask.
Great pic, hope you had a fantastic birthday young 'un.
highlanderwolf - 29/Dec/12
Thanks Highlanderwolf!, yes it was a crazy day - driving down to Pembroke in the rain at 5.30 am, then an hour walk in, in gale force winds. But it was then sunny all day, doing new routes and such a wild sea. Totally life affirming. Think i will stay at home for my 49th but my 50th will have to be something special :)

Jus - 30/Dec/12
That's a superb shot
Nicholas Livesey - 01/Jan/13
the legend that is Rob Stanfield actually. Epic day out!
Stanners - 03/Jan/13
Awesome photograph, but I can't believe (as a photographer of note) you haven't credited the person who actually took the shot!
Neil Foster - 06/Jan/13
Yes, a tricky one this and have been thinking about it quite a lot. I saw the shot and basically gave the camera to Rob and told him precisely what to shoot; to just take shot after shot as i soloed up and down the route several times hoping that one would capture a wave and me in a good position. From about 40 shots i chose the best and did considerable cropping and post production work to get the pic you see. So its a collaboration really but very much my vision as a photographer. At the end of the day the credit should go to the sea itself!
Urgles - 06/Jan/13
bollocks mate, I spent hours setting up this shot! Only joking guys mostly credit to pk as all I contributed was literally pressing the button 40 times in the hope of getting what he wanted. Scoping it out and whatever magic goes on afterwards was certainly all him.
Stanners - 07/Jan/13
Its a tricky one, i certainly wouldn't ever want to deny credit where credit is due - either way.
Urgles - 07/Jan/13
Looks like a very serious solo ! One bigger wave and you are off into the ogin for good !
jp99999 - 07/Jan/13
Amazing photo feels like you are there!! 5 stars it is :)
Master Chief - 09/Jan/13

After a quiet birthday on the crag, I assume you let yourself go in the evening? Great shot.

Happy birthday, hope you enjoyed you b'day climbing very much. And an awesome picture indeed. Congratulation :-)
camarilla - 13/Jan/13
p.s users maybe interested to know that this is Range West in Pembroke..an awesome place to climb, really adventurous but with loads of climbing at all grades.. and a new inspiring guidebook is coming out very soon (hopefully a few months away so a good summertime focus...) which will give full details of around 1,100 routes here, at this very special and unusual venue :-)
donners - 13/Jan/13
Great picture!! What grade is the route?
Felix Ottey - 15/Jan/13
Ive given it VS 4b but it may only be HS 4a. Hard to know as i soloed it.
Urgles - 15/Jan/13
Jeez come on its a picture of a rock climb and you didn't take it. Ok you advised and tweaked etc but its not a difficult one, the other guy took it!
Next you'll be claiming first ascents you suggested to others!
It is a fine picture though.....Well done Rob ;-)
paul wood - 15/Jan/13
Whatever you say Paul.
Urgles - 15/Jan/13
So if i had put the camera on a tripod and set it to shoot every second (which was my original idea) then it would have been the camera that that would have been credited for the having the vision and creating the picture?
