It's a useful conditions photo actually. Anyone contemplating the trip to Beinn Udlaidh can check out ice before hand by looking at UKC pics. Quality has nothing to do with it

The ice in the picture is the direct finish on west gully, White caterpillar branches off much lower down and isn't really visible from here.

Ah, OK, did wonder about that, there seemed to be an interesting looking line of ice further down, it was building nicely in the top section but seemed a bit thin lower down.
