On the summit of the Pic de Neouville, after climbing the Arête des Trois Conseillers. This was Ray's first true alpine climb and wasn't without emotion ! The clear skies of the early morning gave way to cloud, wind and snow and by the time we reached the summit in late afternoon, the weather had turned quite nasty indeed !
Not to worry, a good time was had by all and a fine feast awaited us at the Hotel Richelieu in Bareges. At the time I was still leading walks for HF Holidays, as were Ray and the lady in the photograph Anne Rackham.
