We found the most perfect bivvi spot before doing the West Face with running water, a flat spot and perfect views plus a Payot Pertin chicken. The result was that we woke late and got behind those doing the route from the hut but had the satisfaction in the end of doing the proper descent on the Italian side getting getting to the small Gervasutti hut at last light whilst those doing it micky mouse were still faffing around on abseils at 4.15am !
