The locals call the pebbles in the conglomerate 'Potatoes'. Although they are mainly solid, they aren't attached by much. With that, and a ridiculous amount of exposure, Riglos can easily give you the fear.
Camera strapped to a bolt on a tripod, and set on a self timer. It took a few goes to get right!

Don't spoil it by telling us how its done!
TobyA - 03/Nov/13
Ha ha, I like it. Just don't throw it on your second!
James Rushforth - 04/Nov/13
Great shot Dan. Does this mean you screwed up the on sight in the interest of art?
Mike421 - 04/Nov/13
Cheers all. Mike, I led it with dSLR and tripod then downclimbed. The climbing on this pitch is all on huge potatoes and although the guidebook says 6c+ I reckon it would get about 6b in The Foundry. Thanks to Ally for some patient belaying.

Terrific shot, despite (or perhaps entirely thanks to) the staging!

Great shot, but only a 4 from me as you told us how you cheated! ;-)

Good effort but I'm not convinced by his expression. Behind that attempt at surprise is a cheeky smile.

I'm thinking of building a Riglos training board at home. Would you recommend Maris Pipers or King Edwards?
wee jamie - 10/Nov/13
Brilliant photo @wee Jamie genius comment

If chunks like that come off so easily shouldn't you have been wearing a helmet? Naughty boy.
pec - 11/Nov/13
Certainly looks like a potato. And the holds do not come off that easily; at least not on the well-traveled routes.
sonso45 - 11/Nov/13
Are there smaller holds? Chips for feet, for example?
alooker - 12/Nov/13
Now you've got it you're stuck with the classic irishmans dilemma, do you eat the potato now, or let it ferment so I can drink it later.....

I take my HELMET off to you for the imagination to take this fantastic shot. Well done (I personally think Helmets are needed at Riglos and was glad on one when a large stone similar to this landed on my head when I was on Chopper)

I Luvs it! Great piece of Comic art! Could imagine that in a comic strip as a 'find out what happens next next time' sort of closing image! Was this in a climbing mage near the back cover a little while ago? Got a real sense of de ja vu???

Patatas Bravas anyone? Yes - it was in CLIMB mags photo special a few months back - and if you look really carefully you can see my leg in the photo (That'll be my 15 seconds of fame then!?!)

Not impressed - couldn't you find somewhere at least a bit scary to jump off? That ground can't be more than about six or seven hundred feet away.(!)
