I like this shot, but the outline around the trees at the top left looks a bit odd. Natural backlighting or is it a post-processing artifact?
Nick Smith - UKC  - 19/Jan/05you're right, a bit odd. originally a standard landscape format colour slide, I thought this one looked better in b&w. I wanted the hills on the right to be well defined; the price of ensuring this by increasing contrast and decreasing brightness was the trees' 60s/70s poster outline feel. I like the blocked black mass of those trees, but the contrast between them and their reflection (stems visible) is another flaw.
