This was a popular climb in the 1960's due to it always been reasonably clean [unlike today!].
The photo shows Mike on the second pitch...note the rope tied directly around his waist, and a serious lack of gear!

Popular until the 80s I think - when I did it in '88 it was clean. A nice first pitch I recall, but increasingly broken and jungly

Lovely photo. There's an old folk tune called 'The Peeler and the Goat' (meaning the policeman and the thief) - I wonder if the first ascensionist had this in mind when naming it?
