Does the traverse follow the traverse line of flakes and snow patches on a level with the leader?
Swain16 - 29/Apr/07
Yes, the line followed the snow patches. Nick is climbing towards (and down) towards the belay. We came up to the traverse line in the back ground, where you can just make out another climber.

Epic, i see the other guy, superb pic. Can ney wait to try the face some day. Did you free the whole route, grade VII full free grade isn't it in places (the ramp)?
Swain16 - 30/Apr/07
No, happily pulled on anything to aid upwards progress. Including fixed rope on the Hinterstoisser and in the exit chimneys.
James Thacker - 30/Apr/07
How did you find it using aid then, i can imagen theres a fair bit of in-situ tat and gear on the route?
Swain16 - 01/May/07
There is a bit in the hard sections, but not as much as other alpine routes. Basically you can't be too fussy what you pull on as most of it is of dubious in quality.

Very atmospheric shot (very!) - never seen a photo taken en route before. Any more? Good effort.

can't imagine anyone frees it as it isnt that sort of climb where anyone cares whether you did it "free" or not. Time is of the essence on this one.

That looks so intimidating, a very original angle
