Soaked to the skin bollock-wet freezing cold. Lessons were learnt.

Climbers: just wanna get down

Coming down from the summit of Sgorr nam Fiannaidh, on the Clachaig Ridge, directly down to the Clachaig Inn. We had just done the Aonach Eagach Ridge (east to west) in appalling conditions, in the cloud, low vis, constant rain and high winds. I underestimated how long it would take and what clothing I would require; I was wet through and very cold. The lessons learnt are many; No. 1 on the list would be "always take at least two pairs of gloves". No. 2 would be "take full waterproof clothing not just a waterproof top". No. 3 would be "obtain and wear waterproof boots". This is not an exhaustive list..

Footnote: Recently I had the opportunity to climb Devil's Slide*** 400ft HS in Lundy. The weather was getting chilly, starting to rain, and the clouds were coming in off the sea. Remembering the above mini-epic in Scotland, I informed my partner I was backing off the 'Slide. I'm very glad I did, as shortly after there was a cloud-burst and we got soaked, the cloud got thicker and visibility dropped to 100m. And then there was thunder. I was happy and smug with my decision making.
Thus, proof I learn from experience.
