Modern bouldering wall with high friction panels and bolt on holds. Approximately 25m in length and 4m high, with a small area for basic roped climbing. The wall is multifaceted with many angle changes and a good central overhanging wall. 300mm thick, carpeted landing mats are fitted throughout.
Route setting was recently (Jan 2016) carried out by Tailored Climbing Wall Solutions.
The whole sports centre was redeveloped in 2013. The old Architect wall remains behind the bouldering wall and access corridor beneath
[HISTORY]
Built 1966, some improvements. About 6m high, 14m wide. 5 belay points.
Additional bolt-ons and fingerboard added 2001
aka the Liverpool University Sports Centre Wall. Offers a selection of cemented holds and brick built features including chimneys and ledges. Becoming very polished, and is rather dated, but there is a delightful 6a/6b finger traverse at low level.
Gets very crowded very quickly. Top roping is essential as a fall from any real height would probably be critical! - [Duncan Martin 1/96]
Since the sports hall has been extended the wall must now be booked in advance. As a result the only real users are the members of Liverpool uni climbing club and the pot holing club.

Wall is good for improving technical skills. I first started my combing here before switching to Awesome walls. As awesome walls are higher, it helps to develop more strength. But then, I damaged my knees due to excessive climbing in Awesome. I guess, one should really take regular breaks in climbing. Climbing in awesome is fun and Uni walls gives more enthusiasm within campus.

ive only ever bouldered on this wall.
its okay but the traverse routes are short and would not be possible when others are clibing.
it can get busy, sometimes too busy, climbers tend to be students as most non students prefer awesome walls
not bad for a change of scenery
