strange inconsistent gradings. Cold and dark in the winter, but a good size
They have recently acquired some new walls, which are purely feature based, makes for an interesting climb where you are making up the route as you ascend. The grading can still be a bit weird, staff are very helpful, friendly and you can get a good feel of the sport with some of their introduction sessions. As a consequence of Creation, I have been climbing for over a year now, and regularly recommend to friends.
excellent day out, went there with my college as part of my course, simple instructions on how to fit the gear and we were away. 3 routes all with their particular challenges and at the end of the session we got to play about on what i called the free style wall. got to do what we wanted... great day, as a result im taking up climbing and see if i can get onto that wall on the back. great stuff
An excellent new wall, and improving all the time. At time of writing, a new (steep) bouldering wall has just opened, including a moon wall and campus board, with three finger-boards up too.
They've already held a competition in December and had Johnny Dawes and Neil Gresham doing masterclasses, with more forecast for the not too distant future. Friendly staff (all climbers) with a great atmosphere. Their only downfall, as said above is the grading, but this is improving, and staff are always willing to listen to suggestions, and act on them.
Well worth a go, especially considering the competition around.
Impressive wall - filling the void left when the shyster behind the Rockface took the money and ran. Staff are very friendly, lot of routes. Only complaint is that the selection of routes is not very well graduated. Easier routes graded at 5 feel like HVDiff, then big step up to 6a/6b which feels like E1+ (never have understood the sport gradings!). Come on Creation, sort some intermediate routes for us lumps who can't shimmy up the tough stuff!
Excerlent routes and very friendly staff
