Overview

Reading Climbing Centre is an exciting addition to the climbing scene in southern England. Dedicated to providing the best climbing and bouldering facilities to the Thames Valley climbing community, wth 120 climbing lines and a vast dedicated bouldering facility, you won't be disappointed.

There is a café on site so you can watch the action with a coffee and a cake once you’ve done your hard work! There is also branch of retailer Cold Mountain Kit to service all your equipment and clothing needs.

This is a centre for every level, from complete beginners to the more experienced climber. Reading Climbing Centre has fully trained instructors available for those who’ve not climbed before, as well as routes of all grades for the regular climber.

On the development of the centre, owner John Dunne said “Reading is one of the few major towns in the UK without a big climbing wall. I’m really excited to go into a new area and bringing a great new centre to the south of England. This is set to be one of the biggest centres in the country, and we hope to continue the great route-setting, instructing and atmosphere that we have in our existing centres.

Expensive like other CCG walls, but a top-notch facility.

Just moved to Reading so this has become my local. It's big, which is good, and the staff are all very friendly. It is *very* cold though so bring lots of clothes. And it is on the expensive side. £12 to climb, and £4 for equipment rental (per item). Can easily spend over £20 if you don't have your own gear.

Just started climbing two months ago and this is my 'local'. Fun place with a lot of variety. Gets very busy but is big enough that you don't struggle to find routes. However you can struggle to find something vertical as the majority of the walls have at least some overhang.

Great wall, but very cold - take lots of layers.

Good new wall in the South. Bouldering wall wasn't finished when we went but 'the cave' looked super cool. A crazy arch with multiple extensions at the top of the climb. Grading is a little suspect with easy 6's and hard 5's but I am sure these will be sorted with time. Phase 2 is to follow and perhaps will dispell the 'aircraft hanger' feeling of the place. All staff were very friendly although the shop ripped two of us off and we had to get refunds. If you are thinking of going then just do it as it will only get better with time. (Beware of the holds as the destroyed my shoes)
