Excellent route. Best HVS I've done so far. Had to gain the nerve to make the moves from the security of the flake and a bit of a distance to 2nd piece of gear but once you get that it feels a lot better. Nice mantle near the top too, but not too difficult and with gear at that point. Great route.

Great climb, scary traverce where i had to stand up with almost nothing for my hands. Then had to pop for the next break as i'm short, go the nut in that later on fell out. Had to rest on a yelloy cam before that sidepull flake and reach for the nest mantle shelf where i wailed it. Note to self- must extend as ther was lots of drag in the rope.

Absolute quality all the way and I'd be hard pushed to find a better HVS on Gritstone. Lovely technical climbing without being too desperate or pumpy. The moves preceding the ledge was at the limit of my reach but the climbing is much easier after that. Anyone much below 5ft 8in may struggle. Good idea to use two ropes. One of the best routes I've done on grit so far. I found the moves solid 5a and I'm 5'7. However placing gear below the crux is hard if you're short so I elected to push on without making it a bit more like E1. I watched a taller climber easily placing cams under the mantle from the ledge below just after we finished. I thought the extra boldness in my ascent added more to fun to the climb :)

Pretty simple really. Technical crux is probably the start though before you know it you're at the ledge. Friend protects the 'scary' flake which isn't scary, only to come to a mantelshelf which looked hard but wasn't... the quicker you do this one, the easier it is.

Atlast! This has been on my wishlist for a long time and I've never been able to commit to the first few moves as they are practically unprotected and I didn't remember them being very easy, I remembered correctly, took me a few attempts to figure out what exactly I should do to reach the ledge, then couldnt get a decent nut in the crack. The moves out right were easyish with smearing, and the reach was a lot shorter than I remembered! Almost threw up there and turned out to make it easily with a reach! Brilliant route, worth the wait!

Hard moves onto the traverse, and then reaching up to the 1/3 height ledge found it was soaking wet! :( Tried drying it with a rag, but some scary moves before I could fiddle gear in. The 'crux' moves higher up were easy in comparison.

Third or forth time I tried this one! Made it up to mantleshelf okay.. But was wearing an Kagoul (cheap one). My arms kept sliding back inside the sleeves and I could't stay on!! I slide off onto the last bit of gear.. Took off the Kagoul and did mantleshelf okay and finished route!! Sigh!! ;-)
