A route of 2 parts. First part up the flake crack is really excellent - 3 or 4 lovely steep moves on great holds. 3 stars for that part. The it all went very pear shaped indeed. After the traverse I could get one foot onto the ledge below the niche but simply no further. I assume I was doing it all wrong but any alternatives seemed no easier. So I fell out of the niche and slumped onto the dodgy looking wire at head height, which held just fine, and lowered off. Simon went up and was victorious through the use of additional cams and aid tactics. Would going straight up or even slightly left at the top of the crack and then traversing right much higher be a better idea ? But not keen to have another try. Minus 3 stars for the second part - a real shame.

No way 4b!!! 4c at a minimum and we did it when it was bone dry. Very awkward to section. Mike struggled leading it and I used a knee and an arse seconding and it still felt like the hardest of 8 routes today (which included an HVS 5c).
