[Ben attempting an onsight solo of Goliath, 3 kb]10m. An unrelenting struggle up the wide crack. At least it is protectable nowadays by the biggest cams and a tatty old thread in the depths of the crack. The bold (crazy?) can layback the outer edge of the crack but that isn't really the point. © ROCKFAX

Laybacked it. Definitely 6a, E4 fair enough. Maybe 25 degree heat wasn't ideal but a fun route on my birthday!
morganator - Lead RP - 17/Jul/14 with Sophie Whyte

Repeatedly spat out at the top chock stone. How this gets only 5c is beyond me!
LJC - Lead dog - 17/Mar/14 with George, Little Ben, Tom

Beat us up.
davidalcock - TR dnf - 15/Dec/13 with mapperley samurai

Got about 2/3 to 3/4 up and then was just so pumped and fell out and couldn't get back in properly after that. Size 6 cam made if safe as houses.

Left side in. Absolutely knackering. Ached like hell next day. Easy to layback, but so is walking around the back.
andi turner - Lead - 03/Jun/13 with Aniseed Dave

Overcome by a fit of enthusiasm! Decked it twice (tho not from high) before I walked away. I need to be a little more head strong before I'll commit to those high laybacks.

Climber1806 - Lead dnf - 16/Sep/09 with Morgan Preece

No way, no way this is 5c! i neally fell of the top i was so tired, took the layback aproach then got a knee bar just before the last moves, was my first really crack climb.
MorganPreece - Lead β - 15/Sep/09 with Jessy and Solo

Harald - Lead dog - 03/Mar/09

tried this on a wet day in summer 2009 (think). Fell off the top and ripped a skyhook (we didn't have a cam). Quite lucky really, although the skyhook nailed my eye with some force. There's a video of it somewhere. I think the hook ripped off a useful hold too.

Laybacked all the way and found it quite pumpy for such a short route. Id give it about 7a because of this, maybe more. Can't imagine how you'd climb it inside the offwidth!
