Tried to avoid laybacking by jamming and bridging but that proved desperate so took a small fall. Started laybacking at the earliest opportunity on the second go and it turned out to be ok - not easy but was able to take a hand off to shake out several times. Annoying that I got it wrong first go! Last gear was a cam about a foot below the in situ cam (didn't clip that), so a bit of a run out to the top. Could have placed more but didn't have any cams 0.75 or 1 left! On the way up Ed had an Elbow album playing in the car and there was a song with the line 'you made a beautiful hole in my heart'. How appropriate... This was the third day and the second time out climbing after coming back from Budapest with Holly and driving back home alone... :-(
