Cristal Escalade - Lead O/S - 05/Sep/15

tomhb - May/15

In about 11 pitches, I led the odd ones. Mostly 4ish getting harder towards the top. I thoroughly aided the start of the 6a+ pitch. Walked off the top, which made the route.

Hidden - AltLd - 17/Apr/15

This is a fantastic route. Did this is 5 pitches. All the climbings in the last two pitches which are pretty hard especially the first move of the 6a+ pitch but nothing major. The first 8 are just really enjoyable. Scramble up the ridge to the very top and enjoy the views, we hung out for an hour or so and it's totally worth it.

If I got the right route, Tom told me it was 5+, Tom took the hardest pitch. It was a super experiance.

Only lower 3 pitches again. Emma's lead on P2. Nice.

Nice route. Ok on 70m rope linking pitches in pairs, p1-7 very easy, p8 lovely maybe F5, p9 and 10 little harder done individually, as others say move off belay at start p10 is tricky. Top p11 is just a scramble to bolts on the ridge. Take in the summit then walk down the back to the left to reach a path which leads to Arab Steps area.

A great route with amazing views that just get better and better until you’re even higher than the vultures!! Some of the pitches are much easier than those given, some are like scrambling really and all are on pretty good quality rock, apart from the 6a pitch which is pretty scrappy. Took us around 3.5 hours to ascend and 45 mins walking off back to bags.
Matt Smith - AltLd O/S - 24/Nov/14 with Zoe Taylor

Good day out - like others, found top two pitches a bit steep (and loose) for a 4+. Take shoes for walk off.

great expedition, rope got stuck on 1st ab had to prussik - grr - next time will walk off . 1 6a+ move which can be frigged if needed. mostly easy grade 3/4 with odd move of 5 thrown in until 'plateau' then 5, 5+, 6a+

Epic climb. 10 pitches. Lead even pitches. Rested on 10. Ultra hard move for a 4+. Turns out this is 6a+. Very, very high up. Lovely views. Very brave.

Did the first four pitches skipping the harder upper section. Climbers above dislodged some loose rocks by accident but thankfully they missed us.
keith_duncan - AltLd O/S - Mar/14

Hidden - Lead O/S - 24/Feb/14

Excellent route. Did it in 6 pitches with an 80 metre rope. Last pitch significantly harder, but there are enough bolts there to step in slings and get over the crux easily. We scrambled up to the top of the mountain (great views) and then walked down (leftwards) easily and quickly. Didn't take food/water, just our walking shoes. Got up and down in about 2.5 hrs.

Only the first 5 pitches as we ran out of daylight. Would recommend taking 2 ropes for the ab off but great fun and will go back and complete it at some stage.

I really underestimated this after reading the Rockfax description. The move off the belay on the final pitch is really quite hard (UKC reckons 6a+ which sounds about right to me). There are loads of pitches. We abseiled off in the dark. But it was great fun ... just much more involved than expected ... glad I had a head torch with me!

10 Pitches 240m (a couple with 60m ropes abseiled down in 4 goes). Easy going until the last few pitches. Take water, much longer than the book suggests, if there are others on the route, think 4/6 hours up and down.

4+ in guide 120m. Did up to last pitch where it got very loose, pulled of large flake undercut hand hold :S retreated

brilliant expedition, very well bolted all the way with the last three pitches going at 5/5+/6a - the 6a pitch consisting of a couple of strenous moves then easier
auld al - AltLd O/S - 20/Oct/10

Only did first 5 pitches as it was raining a bit and didnt fancy ab'ing on a wetter than already rope. Didnt realise it keeps on going or that it develops into a 6a. Guidebook v v misleading! Good fun though...

The Rockfax guide says 120m but it's more like 300m! Looks like it's recently been extended, it goes right to the top of the cliff and the top two pitches are a bit harder, last one's maybe 6a? There's a superb scramble to the summit after the bolts run out, really worth while.
