Bee Bee*** 6c+
[Matt Marshall on Bee Bee 6c+ at Desplomilandia, El Chorro, 2 kb]The classic of the crag. Follow the left-trending pocketed groove to a rest and finish up the tufas on the right. Well worn but the holds are nearly all massive. Photo on page 41. © ROCKFAX

2nd attempt. missed a great hold by the last bolt to help reach the jugs on the first attempt. Bottom half polished but holds are great. coming out of the tufas is fun. Nice route... Left the gear in for a couple of mates to try and neither could make it so had to do it again in the blazing sun at the end of the day. apart from frying was still great.

last route on the last day so went all out....got to the last clip :( came in too high from the rest and got it wrong. As it turns out the crux for me was again getting to the lower off, a trend for me at dessy. I will be back for this......

A brilliant climb. Dogged up it the first time and on the 2nd attempt slipped off on the last hard move even though I knew exactly what to do. It was so annoying that I tried it another 4 times but couldn't get past the crux move further down because I was too tired. When I eventually dogged up it again to get the draws out I saw the flat bit I'd been stood when I slipped off was the most polished rock I'd ever seen. I wish I'd noticed that the first time. Argh!! This is the first climb I've ever worked and I can't decide whether I want to go back and get it done one day or not. I can still picture every move. Congratulations to John who got it on his 2nd attempt and thanks for all the belays.

Got up to the last bolt fine, last few moves are off horrible sharp holds, mashed hand on razor sharp finishing jug so gave up. Really nice climbing up to here

I thought this route was hard for 6c+ and maybe worth 7a. It was one of the finest routes of the holiday. It is split into two halves by a full recovery rest. The first half of Bee Bee finishes with a fairly powerful and committing move. The second half is steep, thought provoking and you need a bit of endurance to get through it! Bee Bee is worth seeking out and well worth 3 stars.
