Monaci / Thivierge E2
300m, 9 pitches. Nothing much known about this route. It starts in the couloir on the left of the Pain de Sucre and as far as I can tell stays left of the other routes. Hardly any fixed gear, though the CAS guidebook talks of a partial re-equipping scheduled for 2003... as far as I know this hasn't happened - take a full rack and 2x50. (There are odd pegs and slings to be found from time to time on the Pain de Sucre, mainly on the big ramp and are generally relics from climbers getting off route on the Voie Fournier.) NOTE the grade given is a translation from a French grade estimate of 6a max. A full description is to be found in the CAS guide: Du col des Montets au Lac Léman 2003. Descent: abseil down A Bigger Bang.
