Best route of the trip. Perfect weather, passed one other pair going in the other direction.

Climbing as a 3 - got to the top of the grand gerdarme but with the ridge snow covered and the weather cold and v. windy decided to turn back. Shame after the slog up there and a really nice looking climb.

Early start (~4:20am) for long trek and scramble over glacier/ rock ridges. Sunny day but biting cold wind up above. Andy got frost nip on fingers at ~4000m. Gendarme looked difficult in conditions, esp with just 1 rope. Retreated, as did other parties.
