The Surprise >>
The narrow neck of rock connecting the Pinnacle with the hillside makes a short pleasant scramble, and is the best descent from the Pinnacle's summit. From the gap, a descent right down Pinnacle Gully may also be made at an easy standard in order to regain the foot of the Pinnacle. A descent down the northern side is not recommended. NOTE that the Gap Step (on the hillside side of the gap) is tricky in descent and often greasy.

Winter ascent. Pinnacle Gully was Grade I, the scramble up the Short Side was interesting but far too short to get a winter grade.
Only a hill - 23/Jan/10

First time I'd done the scramble from the top path. The downclimb at the Gap Step is surprisingly tricky, but the final blocky ridge to the top is much more pleasant now all the loose stuff has been cleaned off.
