I led the odd numbered pitches including both of the 6as. We also walked in from the village for the full tick ;-). From the harbour you head through the village just next to Zorbas restaurant. On the approach to Wings For Life it's important to follow the light blue way marks (which are getting worn) and not gain height too soon as there is a new-ish high path which takes you to 2 other new multipitch routes which are situated well before 'Wings', and this path leaves the 'Wings' path quite early on. The start of Wings For Life has a red wings symbol painted just to the left of the start of the route. Also if you want to do this route it's worth chatting to the staff at the Glaros Snack Bar in Masouri, who were very helpful with info for the approach, showing us photos of what to look for and even gave us an A4 topo of the route.

First walked a bit wrong, we went directly to the left from the harbour along the sea, but you have to walk into the city and then left. Watch out for nest of birds when walking towards the route.
Managed to do the climb relaxing in 3:45. Good walk off, and went swimming at the other side. Nice day out! Logbook is full, but we managed to write on the backcover. Thanks for the great adventure
Jeeedeee - 02/Jun/14
Blue paint dots take you all the way to the start. There is a book to sign at the top (in a tin behind a rock a couple of feet away from the last belay)although when we were there it was nearly full. The descent is marked by cairns. The first is near the top belay and if you keep walking straight on past it you'll see the second. Go to the top of the north face and turn right then after a while a cairn marks the way down.
The first half of the route is fairly broken but the top half earns its stars.
The resident falcons put on a superb display of flying.

If walking in from Telendos port follow the blue dots once you hit the trail (by the ruins). The blue dots then end in the cave and the start of the route is to the right, by a tree. First multipitch- I lead first and we alternated on every pitch. Awesome day out but the walk off went on for ever....

A truly fabulous outing, loved every second of it. Found most of the pitches easy for the grade, except the first 6a pitch which I didn't get clean on second and found very tough - (thuggy - not my style). One of my favourite days out climbing.

I lead pitches 1,3,5,7,9&11, Ben lead pitches 2,4,6,8&10. I lead both 6a's pitches cleanly. Amazing climbing, easier lower down but more difficult as you got up higher. The first 6a (pitch 7) has a funky arete style overhang rock to negotiate, not many holds and a little tricky. The second 6a is 200meteres off the ground with an exposed feeling and involves 2 tricky moves - one to move around and onto a big tufa block and the other to get up and past it. Great traverse climbing follows. An epic and memorable multi-pitch, a full day affair and a long and slow walk off at the end - it's only 1 1/2 hours but feels like a lot longer!!!

Climbed in 7 pitches in 2.5 hours, ascent No 595 according to the log book at the top. The first 6 pitches are short so we did them as 3. Then the next 3 as in the route description and ran the top 2 together. Loads of bolts so I clipped approx alternate ones or would have needed 30 quick draws!

I led the 4th pitch. Struggled on the 6a sections, fell off the layback crack and french-freed and aided the traverse pitch - just get up it is my motto on a route like that! Superb, but a bit unbalanced, mostly grade 5 with a few hard moves. Started climbing at 9 and finished at 2:10.

We were started climbing about 08.30 and were first on the route but closely followed by 2 teams from the Lakes. The first crux, was damp and tricky, when I came to lead it (especially with a rucksack) but dried quickly. The heavens opened as Si led the second crux. This is well bolted but even so was very tricky to lead & follow in torrential rain! An excellent route but the first 6 pitches are pretty easy. We were on top by 11.30

Excellent route: crux is a strenuous 6a layback; otherwise very pleasant climbing in amazing situations.
A rather slow party who'd raced to get on the route first marred the experience somewhat: couldn't they see they were causing a log-jam of teams below them?
Apart from waiting for them to finish faffing about, it meant the rest of us had to deal with a stroppy German couple preparing to climb over us on the crux.

Great route, but sadly a party of THREE (from the UK, I'm ashamed to say) decided to rush to start ahead of us and then took pretty much forever to climb it - they were struggling on pitches we could fly up. The waiting became hours & a German couple tried to "push in" leading to a threat of intervention (ie. tying them off).
This should have been a great day out but instead we remember it for the wrong reasons.
Oh, I aided the crux move on the 6a pitch - so what?
