2 pitch route. A vague dusting of snow but bastard cold, frozen turf. -6*C. Hoolie blowing. Dark. After work hit. Great fun. NeilGriffiths - AltLd - 11/Mar/13 with Adam
Did in 2 large pitches after work. Crux is on the bottom pitch. Was really frozen and coldest route this winter -6 plus wind chill from the screaming hoolie. In its present condition I reckon IV 3. Crux although not hard does rely on a hook behind a horribly loose pillar. The mid section of the second pitch is pretty much gear less (that is unless you take time to beat in a bull dog into the shale). having said that next year it may be a III all depends on what falls down this summer. A fantastic route that probably changes monthly. A Crook - AltLd O/S - 11/Mar/13 with Neil Griffiths
Hidden - 2nd - 20/Jan/13
Piers Harley - Lead - 20/Jan/13 with Paul Winder, Simon Clark
innes - Solo - 18/Jan/13 with Tom B
Frozen turf, sketchy loose rock sections. Far more wintery than it looked from below. Andrew Barker - Solo O/S - 20/Dec/10
good conditions, some precarious sections but felt more III than IV. turf bits frozen. plenty of gear: cams, wires, pegs, 2 solid drive-in hooks which were in otherwise unprotectasble sections. top pitch, rather than belay on big block (unless you're carrying a huge cam) up and right on the rock band: 2 peg belay. nickcanute - Lead - 18/Dec/10 with neil shepherd
Really good fun, shame it was misty/foggy, but I guess it stopped the sun melting things. slacky - 2nd O/S - 18/Dec/10 with Nick
Hidden - AltLd O/S - 18/Dec/10
Surprisingly good fun! Turf conditions were just about perfect. Not very protectable unless you have Warthogs and Bulldogs. Piers Harley - AltLd O/S - 18/Dec/10 with Paul Winder
Reasonably frozen at the bottom, but by the end of the first pitch was getting a bit mushy to keep pushing on. PeteH - 2nd dnf - 06/Dec/10 with Nick
About IV 3. Where there was turf it was well frozen but the chossy rock was still chossy rock! Did find two good belays but not more than one piece of pro on the pitches. Needed a bit more snow too. Somerset swede basher - AltLd O/S - 03/Dec/10 with Sam Bennet
With Stu Coxon, suprisingly good route, did it at night with a good layer of snow which added a lot of atmosphere. Rock a lot better than I expected, managed to get quite a bit of gear in. Brannock - Lead O/S - 21/Feb/10
Hidden - 2nd - 21/Feb/10
Done in the dead of night. Really cold - GP snapped one of the axes on the last pitch. Chris Craggs - AltLd - 1980 with Graham Parkes
