Kyrros - Lead - 12/May/13

Experienced some serious route-finding issues. I followed the 'obvious' Diff line up the right hand side, only to back out near the top as I was concerned the gap at the top looked REALLY small and that I might need to head left. Downclimbed back to near the start and went left, only to find what I'm sure is a VS 4c-ish move over a bulge on slopey holds with no feet (and there is a VS in that corner). Fairly confused. I assume I should have continued up and to the right and squeezed through the gap. But if this is the case then the Rockfax topo is pretty poorly drawn. I'll return with some decent beta and crush this next time.

An aperitif for Sifta's Quid. Hilarious, have never laughed so much on a climb. Was after a prolonged period of dry weather which I think helped!

A pleasant cool route to get out of the blazing sunshine until I reached the roof. Felt claustrophobic under the boulder roof and asked a climber on top which hole was largest exit. He thought second on left looked bigger. In the small space available I manoeuvered myself sideways and horizontally into the tiny hole. I became wedged and struggled to move remaining gear on my harness out of the way. With an almighty roar I forced myself through the rest of the hole. The relief was immense! It was only when my second came up that I found I hard chosen the wrong exit, it should be the furthest one on the left. I'm never doing a cave climb again!

Fun climb - guidebook seems to show the wrong route though - up the left of the massive block, when the actual route is to the right. Juggy throughout though difficult to find those holds when you get to the slippery manhole!

Got right up close to the top, and struggled for ages trying to get out, during this time it started chucking it down with rain because a storm came. In the end so we could all leave i had to be hoisted up the last two meters. If there was a decent left foot hold i could have made it.

Really good, don't let the appearance from the ground put you off. The exit is not that small, certainly compared with the standard struggles - you don't even have to take your harness off!

Don't make the mistake of following the righht hand corner. The exit hole is tiny and the traverse across the slab to the proper exit is commiting.
