In 2 pitches, I led both. Was supposed to be a quick ascent on a flying afternoon visit, but turned into a bit of an epic. Pitch 1 up the perched blocks took a while, couldn't find a way of going up the front so went up the right side moving onto the front at the top. The moves up and left were awkward, then gaining the traverse was precarious and poorly protected. The traverse itself was on sloping grass of unknown stability, with no further protection, and was mildly traumatic. At least HS 4a for this pitch. It used to be Diff!
Pitch 2 is meant to go up the wide crack round the corner to the left, but I wasn't sure of this at the time, it was unprotected and committing, so finished up the chimney directly behind the oak. Must have been done before but it's not recorded. I then moved right to a tricky finish on a rubble strewn ledge. Carmen finished up the groove right of the holly, once I'd cleaned it of the larger stones. The chimney and groove were good, but possibly not worth the trauma required to get there!
