550m. Traverse the wall starting from the Castle Cornet end, finishing by topping out onto the projecting blocks by the beach. Always soloed, water depth varies from dry to 40ft+ depending on state of tide. The traverse is best attempted at half-tide up on something like a 7.5/8m tide. Bigger tides will result in a lack of un-pointed cracks to use as holds towards the end! Fastest time recorded is 55 minutes, 2-3 hours is common. Progress points to compare your failures with others are as follows:-
The bunker, the green threaded rods, the rusty spikes, the pipe, the chain & the ladder. WARNING - weak swimmers should wear some kind of buoyancy aid, it's a very long swim to safety if you get tired and fall off halfway between the slip and ladder! The bay also gets any swell coming from any wind with south in it. Graded XS due to commitment, sustained nature and shallow water at the end, E1 climbers should be fine.

Guernsey Mitch - 01/Aug/10 with Dean Cooper, Robyn cassidy, Ed westwood
I think a sport or trad grade would be more appropriate, i'd suggest HVS. Tophe - 2009
