A Lakeland Classic! Up the Groove and Crack to where the V Chimney Stops you. Get a good runner, and swing out left. Bold and Steady!.......In 1959 we climbed the first ascent ground up uncleaned .The move across from the cone we used a sling on a minute spike for a foot hold before swinging across into the groove. The groove and above was filled with damp moss this was for us the most desperate part of the climb. We did use two points of aid while cleaning loose rock and dirt below the cone.

tomhull - AltLd O/S - 23/Jun/10 with matt harris, adam noble

Quite tough for grade, defo E2+, as bold and tricky moves with a run out finish. Nice climbing though and the 5a traverse pitch is in a great position....

Seymore Butt - 2009

Bottled the crux after the bold bit after a lot of up and downing failing to find any holds at the top of the white cone thing. Lowered off some runners and then abbed for them :-(.
Paz - AltLd dnf - 14/Sep/08 with TS

Led the P1 (4c) and P3 (5a - bold traverse). Pat led P2 (5c) and then the final pitch of May Day Climb. Great route, steep and fingery

there's apparently discusion over weather this should be and E2 or an E3 but seen as i seconded the crux pitch, it is pritty irrelavent for me. i did 1st and 3rd pitch. was sufeerin badly after hangin around takin gear out- not a good first E2 second- severe swing.
