Alpine start at 12.45 cruised up the pitches until the crux. Which proved to have the hardest moves I've done this winter. Probably lack of ice in crucial place. Interestingly the party in front somehow managed to avoid standing on the icy footholds. Does the peg provide a clue?

Dreadful wind walking in. Quite a few turned back including Mr Nisbet. Bad spindrift pitch 1 gave me a cold face and hands. Pitch 2 has a very long reach for me and I spent ages psyching up for the one handed swing. Better than Doctor's Choice surely?

This turned out to be a great day and a route we hadnt planned. Turned up in the corrie and by luch the conditions looked pretty good. There was nobody near Pateys so we headed straight for it. crux pitch is quite steep but I found a useful peg on the right wall and the cave a the top provides an excellent belay. Top route.
