Restricted Access

Climbing in the quarry was historically banned by the landowner. However, parts of the surrounding land and some of the rock face are now mapped as Open Access land.

25m. 100 metres up the road from the main slabs is a grubby crag behind some railings and a waterworks tunnel entrance.A steep wall on the left is climbed by "Captain Fishy`s Fish Fingers E1 5b and round the corner to the right are a series of steep corners. The Right-hand groove is climbed to an Oak Tree followed by a chimney to the top.The last sentence comes from the original guidebook description, however the Oak Tree now lies rotting at the bottom of the route along with several tons of limestone blocks which have partly demolished the iron railings. This does not mean that the route is not worthwhile. It is in fact a Mendip Classic, recently unearthed and in places a trifle loose, well what else would you expect from a 1930`s route.

G. Balcombe(probably) 1930.
