[Soaking up the atmoshphere on 'Lucky Strike' Pembroke, 3 kb]

40m. The main line of the slab is yet another Littlejohn classic, one of the great climbs of Pembroke. The route has adequate protection (small wires) and is slightly serious for the second. Start from the huge boulder beneath the wall or, when the tide is in, as for Strike Lucky. Step awkwardly off the boulder and climb up into a groove to the left of a roof (possible refuge belay). Move up to gain the rising (chalk-covered) line on the wall. Follow this until 4m short of the corner, then climb straight up to the top. © ROCKFAX

Excellent climbing, the route of the trip?? Did it from the refuge belay as the sea was very rough, and even then James got wet. Unfortunately had to litter the sea abandoning half our abseil rope that got tangled round rocks in the rough sea, cheers to some other guys who thought to bring us a knife.

Due to a heavy swell had to start as high as possible - from a sloping ledge in the abseil corner, several metres above the start of Strike Lucky as marked in the Rockfax. This made for a perfect traverse line in atmospheric surroundings (the couple of teams before us must have had an even more exciting time as the tide was higher when they were on it). Three out of the seven runners that Phil placed fell out and another one was barely hanging on, leaving the bulk of the traverse unprotected, which made for an exciting time seconding (can I claim a lead?!). Just as well that it wasn't particularly hard or sustained! Brilliant route, fully deserves its Top 50 status.

Superb climb with big sea running in wild position. Best route on the trip. Put in 2x as much gear as needed on traverse - half will drop out before the second gets on it!

Bit lame to only manage one successful lead in an overambitious trip but glad it was a good'un. Felt hard for E1, sustained and pumpy and lacking in 100% bomber wires until end of the traverse. Final section where you go upwards is a joy.

My favorite climb in pembroke: amazing moves , a little precarious, a little scary and not steep! Was advised to do the strike lucky start and it felt more inkeeping with the climb than the start from the boulder.
