At last! Managed to get on this. Been wanting to do it for years. Bottom pitch very wet and falling down as we climbed it. Top pitch (slab) in great condition, despite having water cascade all over it from the unclimable Direct Finish. I doubt it'll come back into condition again this year. Worth a IV in today's conditions. Would be a good III in better nick.

In 2 pitches, I led the first (60m, to the cave below the big chockstone), C led the second. First pitch very wet and quite scary (poor ice screws), second pitch much better condition. All good fun. Played on a few ice falls in the stream above.

As mentioned, on 1st pitch the ice was not brilliant. Thankfully I was leading the 2nd pitch, with a stonking great slab of ice to climb. Good day out, finished will a little play on the ice falls above.
