Rockfax Description
170m. A handy alternative if the gully itself is busy or there are poor snow conditions. Pick the easiest line up the right hand side of the gully trending right or joining the right branch for the final 30m. © Rockfax

Very straightforward with a few steeper bits overlooking the gully.

droberts 01/Feb/12 Solo O/S

good climb, fresh powder and some ice. most of it was fairly easy as a solo apart from the crux leading up from the branch where we it may have been better with ropes

Unconsolidated but some reasonable frozen turf. Not a very distinct line.

Alpine style. Horrendously deep snow! Climbing in neck deep powder is punishing. Looks to be avalanchy soon - keep an eye on it!

Solo'd most of the way, broke trail through chest high powder to lead the first icefall - awesome!! Jake then broke trail (chest high) to the summit. Brilliant!

Soloed most of the climb apart from the ice bulge which we slightly nervous about as it was starting to melt.

Went for a walk and unexpectedly there was a fair bit of snow left in the gully, so couldn't resist the challenge. Soloed it with Alisdair without any gear. Snow sections were straightforward and didn't require crampons, the difficulties were on the slippery rock sections.

Great climb in good conditions. Quite long at about 200m. Some really nice little ice pitches that were easy enough that I could enjoy leading them :-) Very busy though and lots of bad climbing etiquete being displayed! We were virtually trampled underfoot! To be fair it didn't help that there were 3 members in our party so we could only realistcally go 25 meteres or so between belays with out 50m rope, whereas with only 2 you could go 50 metres.

We bailed out below the 'ice' pitch since it was not ice but slush! Later that weekend three pairs of climbers were avalanched - all survived but limbs were broken. Climbed it many years later with left fork finish (?) - it was fun.
