I did this with no side runners as per guide book description. Done like this there is no chance this is HVS. Technically feels like 5c and would only feel easier if you're very tall. As for gear, it's run out. I've climbed a lot of E2 that felt easier than this! I'd offer soft end of E2 5c as a fair grade.

Used the left hand crack once for my foot - just for balance.

Two side runners without it would have been very scary! Big reach and i am 6'2. Did central crack finish.

bailed from lead due to concerns about gear, cracks look ok from below but ere very flared till high up. tried again on TR but found it absolutely desperate, slipped off a couple of times. Agree with bullwinkle, this is a real sandbag for the short. Finished TR up central crack topout just for giggles.

bailed off lead onto right hand crack due to concerns about gear, tried again on toprope and found it desperate, agree with bullwinkle, this is absolutely desperate for the short. also very hard to see how it could be p1 without liberal use of side runners

Felt very hard and committing for the grade. I think definitely E1 for sure. The top break takes around a size 1 camalot upwards, and is very much needed. Probably a size 6 or so hex might have gone as well. Not as much gear as you would think! Good route though. Rich seconded and thought E3!! He he, maybe a bit much but probably not to far off the truth.
David_Gledson - Lead - 16/Jun/11 with Rich Timms

cam 1 st break rd camalot, cam or 2 second blue and gold camalot. 3rd none, 4th wire left of central climb and cam in break green camalot? gear then above a long reach
timmsy - 2nd - 16/Jun/11 with David_Gledson

Used a friend in left crack at 3/4 height, don't see it being P1 without this.

Climbed with a side runner in the left hand crack as well as gear in the break. Take a friend 4 for the left hand side top out! Use of left hand crack was a bit too liberal really.

For a P1 the gear takes a while to arrive.
joe larner - Lead O/S - 30/Sep/07

Desperate at the grade, especially if you're short. Anyone less than 6' will find this about E2 5c, unless I was doing it wrong! E1 5b for anyone tall.
bullwinkle - Lead O/S - 08/Jul/07 with John

Got to about second break, gear wasn't very good and didn't fancy falling off. Would have committed if gear was better.
