Only did this as someone else bailed and went to collect the gear. Was initially told it was graded an S, so pleased when I looked in the book to see a VS. Tricky start, but found the top half harder. Made a mess at the top where there is a nice ledge (to the right of the crack) as I pulled onto it with nowhere to go so had to drop back down and move left to the crack.

We had a bit of a struggle with this one. Mick led upto the ledge but got pumped and lowered off his gear. I tied onto the sharp end but popped off the tricky first move twice before getting it right. Continued up and finished the climb fine - top is sustained but really positive.

Immediately I'd started leading this a load of chavs (about 30 of them?) turned up blasting music and shouting loudly. A little difficult to concentrate on leading under the circumstances. Still, I enjoyed the climb nevertheless. The crack is bigger than it looks from the bottom - i.e. your fingers do fit into it! Interesting move at the top - I coould only just about touch the positive hold, so had to trust my feet on some very small footholds to gain the crucial extra reach required. Conditions were absolutely freezing due to high winds, but at least it dried the rain off quickly. A great climb.
