David Smith - 2011

Nice enough to start but soon after the precarious move on P3 the rock got increasingly dirty and vegetated, so much so that I spent a while going this way and that towards the top of P3 trying to figure out where it went as the path suggested by the guide book description was not well travelled. After a shouted consultation with Dave, who had done it about 30 years earlier, I figured out that I was on the right line after all. The crux on P4 was very dirty - had to brush stuff off the footholds, rip out a couple of small ferns and clean out parts of the crack with a nut key - a very authentic experience! It's cleaner now so please go and climb it! Annoyingly, slipped off from just about the roof, got back on and finished it in reasonable style. Last pitch was quite enjoyable. Led P2 to P5 after Dave backed off the precarious move. Did first two pitches of Main Wall to start. Took 5 hours due to us both faffing around on P3.
