Fibre** VS 4c
[Second pitch of Fibre, 3 kb]43m. Often climbed in 2 pitches.

Climb the corner by bridging and layback (short but strenuous) until you mount the obvious block on the right (belay possible).

Step up right onto another block and then climb the big imposing chimney (easier than it looks). Mount the stuck block and then traverse right (loose and vegetated). Continue to climb up further until you top out to a good tree belay.

From here it's best to walk off, although an abseil is also possible.

Very strenuous so ended up doing in two pitches

Was led as two pitches, which was a wise move to avoid massive rope drag and allow the belayer to see the climber. The bottom section of the route was short but strenuous. After the ledge you gain a a really nice chimney which can mainly be bridged. At the top of the chimney we had to head right, past some very loose rock - I managed to dislodge a large block but avoided falling off. Fairly high in the grade, but not as difficult as Cadillac. We walked off the top, seemed better than the abseil into the bush!
treforsouthwell - 2nd O/S - 28/Aug/15

David did first pitch, I lead second. Had stuck gear at bottom of first pitch which we retrieved after abseil. Favours lay back technique and hand jams rather than crack thrashing.

Was glad Hamish had this lead. Found Sinew on lead easier than this on second!
andrea83 - 2nd O/S - 01/Aug/15 with Hamish

Tough work. I went straight up the crack instead of traversing, the problems in the upper sections just kept on coming, lots of bridging was needed to keep moving up. Nearing top I had to traverse right about 3 mins to find a tree with the long rope on, watch out for loose rock. Knackering stuff, felt harder than 4c.

Unimpressed with the description in the CC guide, easy to get lost if you don't go far enough right. All it has to say is 'go right at the series of ledges to the corner' and it would be fine. Onsighted it with much umm'ing and ahh'ing over where the hell to go. Hardest moves are at the starting hand-crack IMHO, the rest is just burly thrutching that probably catches alot of people out. Low-end of HVS 5a

Bailed about 2/3rds of the way up due to being knackered. Very hard for the grade. Unless you can jam then it's probably a bit easier. Wish I had a few more big cams. Otherwise the gear was generally pretty good.

Tough for the grade. The initial crack and break right was pumpy and felt the crux to me. I managed to bridge the top chimney entirely so not too strenuous in contrast. Another great route. Not sure what is holding the large boulder on the left side of the upper chimney in place?

Good route, with a big feel. No move harder than 4c and plenty of gear if you have loads of hexes and large cams, so grade is probably correct, but there is lots of 4c climbing and it is frequently strenuous, so very top end of the grade. Bit like a piece of Boulder Ruckle transferred to Wye Valley woodland.
The Ivanator - Lead O/S - 14/Sep/13 with Rob

I found this harder than Sinew! Wild camped near a nature reserve the night before.

Warmup. Felt tough for VS, not quite HVS but not far off. Got to use all my new big Dragons, and all my hexes. Went all the way up to the big tree that the in-situ is on for the anchor. 50m rope is just enough to go round and get back to the belay.
