A great climb. Traversed in from the climbers col after traversing round from the gondala and approaching up the ridge to get a good look at the cornices. First pitch was a snow slope and the second had a great ice pitch. Final pitch was up the snow slope to the cornice that was easy passable by following the snow arête to the top.

A very thin ascent, with avalanche debris at the the bottom, verglas and water ice in the steep mid section and near vertical snow at the top to the cornice. Probably in these conditions with little snow, closer to a III as nothing banked out. Good technical and balancey climbing in the narrower mid section. Great first route of the winter.

3 pitches. Clagged in and thawing conditions. Was actually raining. Could see that snow was slipping away from the rock. Griff led 1st pitch. A large rock came unstuck at the belay (scary moment #1). Griff managed to stop it falling until it was safe to let it go. Novice led 2nd pitch. I led final pitch up over cornice. very dangerous. Snow was sugary and cornice had receeded leaving a crevasse full of wet snow underneath. Managed to plant my axes on summit and used my arms to pull up so as not to put full weight on crap snow ledge. Threw legs over to safety. Snow in crevasse was collapsing when seconds stood on it. Lesson learned: should not have climbed on an east facing slope in thawing conditions.
