Backed off getting out of the break. Will go back but it still felt all there at VS 4c.
eldre070 - Lead dnf - 05/Oct/14 with Cem

Good fun and loads of friction. Takes a quite exciting line, but faith in the VS-grade is rewarded by sequences of good holds.

A prickly adventure, well worth it so please do not cut down or excessively garden this beautiful holly tree that adds to the authenticity and excitement of this rather secluded climb. If you don't want to get pricked don't climb it.

A giveaway at VS 4b - really well protected and only one tricky move with good gear at your waist

The crux is getting to the slanting crack without getting eaten by the holly. Excellent climbing once you get there.

The holly could do with a good pruning, you now have to go further up the grotty chimney than you used to (if old guidebook editions are to be believed). Super route, VS 4b probably about right in hindsight, though it felt much harder at the time!
