Ice a bit mushy but not a bad choice for the melting conditions. Lovely and warm in the bright sun once on the ridge. Managed to get the gondola back down which makes a nice change. An excellent route very enjoyable.

Superb big day, cold but sunny. Start of route unclear to us; ice pitch at start of Easter Gully looked seductive, but that's another route. We went up the frozen turf near the next gully left to reach the point where the rib becomes rockier and better defined. (Footprints from a couple in Easter Gully came up to the same point, although they were apparently repulsed by the first difficulty there and returned to the gully). After that a good variety of slabs, cracks, frozen turf and the odd patch of solid neve banked up on the north side of things. Probably did about 5 proper pitches total, moved together on the rest. Just made it to the summit cairn as headtorches became necessary. Will be back for more in this part of the world for sure.

good conditions all the way, turf not fully frozen at the start but fine higher up
HarryB - Solo O/S - 16/Dec/12
Turf frozen for top half of the route with lots of rime ice. Plenty of unconsolidated snow on smooth slabs, but a good choice for the conditions today.

Managed to climb line of 'most interest' rather than 'least resistance' which made it more like IV in the conditions! Bailed in worsening weather from the pinnacles near the top, downclimbed the gulley on the left and were promptly avalanched at the bottom. Not an experience I'd like to repeat! =o(

Excellently led via the most 'interesting' route by Mr. K until the pinnacles where due to deteriorating weather we abbed into the gully on the left. We downclimbed this and traversed across the approach slopes below Golden Oldy where we were avalanched on from above. A sobering experience! By the time we made it back to the Nevis car park it had been a 17 and half hour day!

Best climb of the week. A very long climb, but never too difficult.

started up steep ice corner (III/IV?) which topped out onto horrible icy slabs with no gear. didn't like the look of it so backed off. Not my best day

Hard to say exactly what combination of routes we climbed, having originally thought it was Golden Oldy. An epic off-route experience with some pitches certainly grade IV, topping out in a blizzard at 2am. Ran out of food, water & torch batteries, got lost on the descent (!), hallucinations, vomiting... this day had it all. Very happy to return safely to the car after a full 24 hrs on the hill :)

Fantastic stuff. Weren't sure which climb we were on until we checked the guidebook the next day. Finished late in the dark. Stacked with snow.

Moved together for most, I led the first half, Dave led the second.
Some great steps if you want, probably going at upper end grade 3, if not 4.

Pretty tough in conditions with no ice and a large amount of unconsolidated snow!

Did first pitch, but started slightly off route in gully to the right. This made for a tricky few moves back onto the buttress, especially since there was no ice and the ground was not properly frozen. Rest of route safe and straight forward buttress climb but most enjoyable under clear blue skies.
