Ticklists: Connoisseur's Classic Rock.

Tempted by the 3 stars were ventured along the considerable approach. We were severely disappointed. In the 15 years since the guidebook was written, the vegetation had become a dense jungle, gently weeping stored rainwater down the entire face. We turned away in disgust. Don't expect traditional climbing.

Wet, cold, vegetated and slimy. Climbed in approach shoes, quite tough in these conditions. Warrants 3 stars for the situation and exposure but not for the quality of the climbing. I did this about 15 years ago with steve on a similar damp November day but have absolutely no recollection of the route.

Simply botanical (wood anemone, ferns, wild raspberry, campion, heather and I think maybe some kind of moss). Sure the climbing wold have been more enjoyable in the dry

You can keep your walls, you can keep your bolts, this is what climbing is about. Adventure :)

Damn good day out, 8 hours of climbing, 3 hours walking around on Cadair and a return car journey smelling of sheep and slime mould...smooooth!

Heading for Gist Ddu but forgot the rack! Then it rained. Climbed with a rope and a hex, both of which were worthless.

Stood in the cold damp drizzle, on belay in the back of the chimney leaning against two blocks about the size of yer average fridge stacked on top of one another that gently moved - I watched as a large black slug slowly made it way past me up the wall opposite I remember thinking - "This time last Saturday morning I was climbing in the Chamonix valley, in the sunshine, on warm rock being over taken by lizards !"

Can't remember much about this (even the year we did it) but it was a very hot day and we were sheltered from the sun for most of it.
